Custom Quartersawn Oak with a Touch of Black Walnut
This quartersawn oak table is made with a seldom seen and difficult technique of sandwiching solid strips of walnut within an oak top. Not and inlay or veneer but solid walnut which goes all the way the oak.
This is air dried oak finished in a 4 step process of dyeing, not staining, agter which it'‘s finished with custom blended oil. Then three coats of paste wax are applied.
The goal of the finish was to give the effect of aged white oak, mimicking the natural aging process that would take 50 years.
The under shelf is a slab of black walnut.
